Design Workshop
Design workshops are organized around team projects involving MSc students in experimental architectural design and computational studies applying the knowledge and tools introduced in lectures in order to implemented their skills with practical project design experience.
MSc candidates explore the architectural potential and applicability of the Concept Design in its geographic and climatic context.
Four DESIGN WORKSHOPS are organized around team projects involving MSc students in experimental architectural design and computational studies applying the knowledge and tools introduced in lectures in order to implemented their skills with practical project design experience. MSc candidates explore the architectural potential and applicability of the Concept Design in its geographic and climatic context. The first one is developed at the beginning of the MSc and the other three completing the Modules 2-3-4. The Pilot Projects [project area or pilot buildings] should be selected with the collaboration with the local Administration/Municipality/ Real Estate Companies. During the first Workshop the Design Themes will be presented and team groups organised.
The Design Workshops are related to general as well as specific issues in the fields of SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURE, in particular completing the Units of Modules:
Workshop1 - Adaptive and Dynamic envelope for buildings retrofitting
Module/WS 1 RESPONSIVE ARCHITECTURING
Module/WS 2 ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE AND ASSESSMENT TOOLS
Workshop2 - Green architecture to design the future
Module/WS 3 NBS & ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIVE DESIGN
Module/WS 4 DESIGN THE FUTURE: GREEN ARCHITECTURE FOR RESILIENT CITIES
During the Design Workshops students are stimulated with lesson from practice: several practising architects, engineers and researchers are invited to present projects that illustrate their philosophy, practice and experience with sustainable environmental design. Individual presentations are accompanied by roundtable sessions exploring the relationship between practice and research.
The Design Workshops are focused in the implementation of Pilot Project, investigating the different aspects of sustainable architecture: how to think and project in order to respect the earth and the natural elements of air, green and water, mixing the employment of natural materials with energy saving strategies.
