Green architecture to design the future

WS2 | GREEN ARCHITECTURE TO DESIGN THE FUTURE | 8 credits

In the Green Architecture workshop students will be able to integrate the architectural design concept with green strategies and natural based solutions to improve environmental resilience capacity and buildings energy performance in a Pilot Project.

Students will be able to implement the architectural design concept of new Pilot Project (Pilot buildings - Pilot Area) with green strategies and innovative green solutions as green envelope and vertical farm to renaturing cities as well as to improve environmental resilience capacity and buildings energy performance.  Students will be able to define a concept building design fostering the architectural integration of green/soft technologies, experimenting how the use of eco-friendly materials and innovative nature-based solutions could influence the environmental quality of architecture, with responsive and site specific design.   Students will be able also to select and apply - in the specific Middle East (hot dry) climatic and environmental context – the appropriated technologies (ie. BIPV) to foster the architectural integration of renewables and the urban energy production. They will be able to realize and apply principles and strategies of resilient cities as well as to manage International evaluation tool to evaluate and assess the building solutions following the GBC Green Building Council, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM).
